Top Colorado talent heading out of state

High school football in Colorado is on the rise. This year's class matches the Class of 2009 with three four-star athletes and a host of three-star players spread throughout the area. However, the crop of talent this year seems to be more diverse than a year ago, when offensive linemen -- including tight ends -- were abundant. The 2010 class features strength at skill positions such as quarterback, running back, athlete and kicker. Even though there are four offensive linemen in the state's top 20, the variety is very apparent this season.

Colorado high school players seem to be wide open to colleges outside the state and for the second year in a row we find some of the best talent going to the Pac-10, Big Ten, Big 12, Mountain West and major independents. The recent struggles at the University of Colorado have probably added to the reasons why many of the state's best players go elsewhere.
