Wide Receivers: Supreme playmakers

If you've paid close attention to the world of college football in 2006, you would have taken notice that most of the finest playmakers in the land reside at wide receiver, and yes, the trend continues for coaches to covet big wide receivers with range, long arms and good -- or at least deceptive -- speed.

Just look at the impact players like Dwayne Jarrett (USC), Mario Manningham (Michigan) and Calvin Johnson (Georgia Tech) have had on the game this season. Few defenses have found a blueprint for how to stop or just slow down these monsters, and the mismatches created have caused defensive coordinators nightmares trying to prepare a game plan. Defensive football is about tackling and not giving up the big play, but that is easier said than done.
