Small-town kid hits the road to get noticed

There are some high schools, such as Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla., or Long Beach Poly in California, that regularly produce top talent. At the other end of the spectrum is a school like Bell County High in Pineville, Ky.

Tight end/linebacker prospect Brent Slusher, a good sized and versatile prospect at Bell County, has worked hard to garner attention from recruiters and show off his skills. He and his parents realized during his junior year that their location would force them to have to work a little harder to get noticed.

Pineville is a town of about 2,000 residents in southern Kentucky, about a two-hour drive from Knoxville, Tenn. Brent's mother, Stacie, realized they would have to be proactive and visit schools and attend camps and combines, rather than waiting and hoping coaches found their way to Pineville.
