It has been a long time since the days of Randall Cunningham at UNLV, slinging passes and booming punts all over the field. I'm sure football fans in Nevada wish former Runnin' Rebel Larry Johnson had picked football over basketball too. Can you imagine the tight end he would have been? Wow!
Well, let's face it, Nevada has never been a very football rich state at the high school and college levels. Gambling and fun in the sun have been the trademarks of this desert landscape -- but this year is different. Nevada is home to one of the most electrifying running backs in all of high school football, DeMarco Murray from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. If you have not heard of him yet, you will very soon.
Murray is the type of player who gives opposing defensive coordinators fits in every facet of the game. He is the most versatile and explosive running back in this class. Like Reggie Bush on the college level and Brian Westbrook on the professional level, he has the ability to split out wide as a receiver and also change field position and play a kick and punt returner. Opposing teams had better know where he is at all times because he is a big play waiting to happen on every snap.
