Radford coach Byron Samuels is approaching the 2006-07 season with a cautionary tale for many of his returnees. Quite simply, be careful what you wish for.

"A lot of guys have been begging for opportunities, well now they're getting ready to get them," said Samuels, surveying a roster minus his top three perimeter players of a year ago. "What they do with the opportunity is completely up to them, but they'll get their chances now."

Gone are second all-time leading scorer at Radford and last year's BSC scoring leader Whit Holcomb-Faye (23.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 4.0 apg), along with reliable point guard Andre Bynum (8.3 ppg, 3.9 apg). Junior swingman Dan Ross (7.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg) decided to transfer, moving north to live with his close friend, New Jersey Nets draftee Josh Boone.

The Highlanders, who posted their first winning season in five years, are suddenly without more than 50 percent of their scoring and 70 percent of their assists from a perimeter that has been their strength recently.
