Yes, Jessie Evans is a basketball coach. But he's also a salesman, and a darn good one.

When he goes on the road to sell his San Francisco program to a recruit, or when he turns on the charm to motivate his players, Evans has his sales pitch down cold.

It's all about the great tradition of the Dons, the one that begins with the back-to-back national championship teams of 1955 and '56 led by the dominating inside presence of
Bill Russell and guard K.C. Jones on the outside.

But when Evans delivers the pitch these days, it somehow seems familiar. Those guys out there on the court … is that Russell and Jones? Or Wiggins and Surratt?

"Let's not go overboard here," Evans said, laughing. "But we like to play on that."
