Middle-seed inconsistency could lead to upsets

Two days have passed and the buzz of Selection Sunday has evaporated.

We're still shaking our heads at the thought of both Purdue and Illinois being in the field, with Arkansas joining them, while West Virginia, Florida State, Syracuse and Kansas State still feel the sting of the "snub." Also, the mid-majors got fewer at-large bids than in recent years, so Appalachian State, Air Force, Missouri State and Drexel can claim a "high-major bias" with equal legitimacy.

Still, we have 65 teams and a tourney to play, so there is more to discuss than what went on during the selection process. In fact, what was commonly missed in post-selection discussions this year is the over- and underseeding of many teams, and the fact are that no two of the same seeds are alike.
