Last season, sixth-year Brown coach Glen Miller had the reigning Ivy League Player of the Year in point guard Jason Forte, one decent junior and a bunch of freshmen. That mix just didn't work out.
Forte struggled, not knowing who he could trust on the court and more times than not, trying to do too much. He earned All-Ivy honors for the third straight season, but defenses were running box-and-ones on him and at times, it was ugly. While Miller regards Forte as one of the best players in recent Ivy history, he's excited about the post-Forte era at Brown.
"Jason was a dominant personality and that was tough on the freshmen," Miller said. "I'm really looking forward to coaching this team. This is the type of team I am more comfortable coaching, with four of five guys scoring in double figures each night. And we can run our motion offense with balance.
