New Richmond coach Chris Mooney has no regrets about taking this job after Jerry Wainwright left for DePaul.
Sure, it's more of a fixer-upper than he had originally anticipated after the defections of the program's three point guards. Worse, Wainwright's top two recruits (6-5 A.D. Vassallo and 6-4 Jose Garcia) were denied admission to the school. But because he's only 32 years old, Mooney is in this for the long haul. And he likes all the ingredients Richmond has to attract recruits.
"The campus and the facilities are gorgeous, we're in a very good league and the program has quite a tradition," said Mooney, ticking off the pluses of his new gig. "And quite frankly, none of the guys that left the program took me by surprise."
Still, the defections sting.
