Long(horns) On Texas Mail

October, 21, 2005
Lots of Texas talk from this week's mailbag:

From Paul Brown in Austin, Texas: I've been following Texas football closely for 25 years now, and the 2005 squad seems to have more size and speed than any previous team. How do you think they match up with USC, should the two meet?

Paul, I'm starting to believe that they'd match up pretty well against USC. I still have questions about the Horns passing game, but they have a terrific tight end (David Thomas) and some big, fast receivers (Limas Sweed, Billy Pittman) who will give those shaky corners problems. Plus I think their O-line is awesome and they'd be able to run right at USC. Defensively, I believe it won't be so easy. UT has speed but the Trojans are awesome on all phases. Let's see how the Horns do matching up against the Red Raiders' receivers. As much as this might surprise some people to read, I think their wideouts are as gifted as any four-man group in the country.
