Scott among Penn State's X-factors

March, 28, 2007
Boldest (or perhaps silliest) prediction of the offseason: Penn State is my dark-horse national title contender. That doesn't mean I'm picking the Nits to win the title. It just means when I do radio shows and the question comes out about some sleeper team (and it always comes up) you like to throw someone out who isn't around the top 10, and until further notice, I'm on the PSU bandwagon.

(They have many key pieces in place and the schedule is very favorable with a nonconference slate of home against Florida International, Notre Dame and Buffalo and on the road at Temple. The one tough Big Ten road test is at Michigan Sept. 22.)

Of course, the bandwagon thing comes with many caveats. The biggest one is if PSU can replace the very underrated Tony Hunt. And that brings us to former blue-chipper Austin Scott.
