Illinois debuts new offensive option

April, 23, 2007
Lots of juicy stuff to get into as we digest another batch of spring games. Of course, it's easy to read way too much into these scrimmages, but since this is the only football we have, I'll proceed with the overhyping:

Headliner of the weekend: WR Arrelious "Rejus" Benn, an early enrollee and the the front man in Illinois' recruiting class, lit up the Illini's spring game. Benn caught five passes for 145 yards, including a 64-yarder, and ran five times for 42 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown run that was capped by an unsportsmanlike-conduct penalty for spiking the ball with a flourish.

"It's clicking pretty good," sophomore quarterback Juice Williams told the Chicago Sun Times. "The Juice-to-Rejus connection is something you'll probably hear a lot. Rejus is a guy I can depend on. Getting the ball in his hands is a high priority."
