Notes from around the nation

September, 10, 2007
LSU, in the parts of the game I got to see, looked dominant against Virginia Tech. Perhaps the best barometer of just how impressive the Tigers offense was running through a very good defense came in the form of this nugget from the Roanoke Times:
The Tigers had touchdown drives of 87, 85, 67, 76, 87 and 94 yards. LSU's offense didn't go three-and-out all night. The Tigers had 18 plays for 10 or more yards, eight for 21 or more yards, including scoring plays of 67, 34, 32, and 28 yards.

• I was really impressed by Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford. Not only is he athletic, but he was very accurate against a good Miami defense, which clearly needs some help at cornerback. I'm a week late, but I'm on the OU bandwagon.

• Props to USF, and to the Big East, which also got a nice win by Cincy over Oregon State.
