I had a bad week, going two under .500 against the line, putting me at seven over .500 for the season. The good: picking Hawaii to upset Nevada. The bad: picking FSU to thump BC. The ugly: picking Nebraska to handle Texas.
A couple of housekeeping notes here: First, all game times listed below are ET. Second, in this blog every Thursday I pick Thursday and Friday night televised games and Saturday games involving teams ranked in the Top 25. Usually, I will jump in the comments on the blog and pick other games of interest to different fans who ask. If I had to pick every FBS game, this entry would get a bit long.
The 3:30 p.m. slotted games that are listed as 'ABC Regional' can usually be found on ESPN2 in other areas. Check your local listings. If there's no TV network listed for a game below, also check local listings.
Here we go:
Thursday and Friday night games
UCLA Bruins at Oregon Ducks
Thursday, 9 p.m. (ESPN)
The Bruins have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the country. The Stanford Cardinal dominated them. Then, they went to Austin, Texas, and blasted the Longhorns. Then, Cal beat them by 28. My hunch is, even if the group shows up mentally the way they did in Austin, it won't be enough in Autzen, Ore. The Bruins' offense is banged up, and the Ducks will be out to make a statement to pollsters on the national stage. The Ducks blow people away in the second half at home, but I think they'll make this one a runaway sooner than that. Oregon 52-14.
South Florida Bulls at Cincinnati Bearcats
Friday, 8 p.m. (ESPN2)
The Bearcats have more fire-power than the one-dimensional Bulls right now (107th in passing). Cincy has been decent at home, while USF looks lost away from home. Cincy 31-13.
