Tuesday morning quick hitters

September, 7, 2010
• Offensive lineman Anthony Zettel (West Branch, Mich./Ogemaw Heights) has had Michigan as his slight leader over Penn State and Michigan State for months. So it is not surprising Zettel was in the Big House on Saturday for the unveiling of the renovated Michigan Stadium as the Wolverines defeated Connecticut 30-10 in front of 113,000 plus fans, a college football game record.

If things go well in Ann Arbor this season and it looks like coach Rich Rodriguez will keep his job, then it is going to be hard for anyone to beat out Michigan for Zettel's services. But if things go south for Rodriguez, the battle for Zettel is going to get very interesting between the Wolverines, Nittany Lions and Spartans. Zettel is not likely to make a decision on a college until he gets a good read on what is going to happen in Ann Arbor.

• There were plenty of stars on both teams Monday afternoon as Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville defeated Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Dwyer, 26-22, in Ohio Stadium as part of the Herbstreit Classic.
