In late December offensive lineman Chris Bryant (Chicago, Ill./Simeon) seemed like a good bet for an eventual commitment to Michigan. He had made official visits to Michigan and Arizona and had planned to announce his college choice on Jan. 21. Bryant had nothing but positive things to say about the Wolverines and did not seem too concerned about the job status of Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez. Then came the firing of Rodriguez, followed by Bryant saying he might push back his announcement date. However, the hiring of Brady Hoke to be the new leader of the Michigan football program seems to be a positive to Bryant.
