DB Denzel Conyers fighting through injuries

June, 1, 2011
One player who was not able to participate in Sunday's Under Armour Tampa combine was defensive back Denzel Conyers (Gulfport, Fla./Boca Ciega) as the 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety suffered a serious knee injury earlier in the week.

"I was going up for a play on a pass and my foot fell in a little ditch and it messed up my knee," Conyers said. "It's disappointing but I'm going to work hard and come back stronger."

Conyers, who played defensive line for Boca Ciega, was being recruited as a safety/linebacker prospect and had already landed offers from Florida International, Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico and Western Michigan. Several BCS programs had stopped by the school to take a look at him during the spring.
