Showers, Bell have busy schedules

March, 16, 2010
Defensive back/running back Valdez Showers (Madison Heights, Mich./Madison Heights) did not play football his sophomore year after transferring to Madison Heights from Detroit Crockett Tech. However, Showers made up for any lost time with a big junior season by rushing for 1,572 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also made 42 tackles and broke up 12 passes. In addition to playing running back and cornerback, Showers returned kickoffs.

"I could play cornerback, wide receiver or running back in college," Showers said. "I like having the ball in my hands, but whatever it takes to make it to the next level. Most college coaches say cornerback."

The 6-foot, 185-pounder has scholarship offers from Northwestern, Toledo, Central Michigan and Wisconsin.
