Strong class of Michigan natives

April, 1, 2010
The state of Michigan's 2011 class is a pretty strong one, especially at the top.

The No. 1 junior from the state, linebacker Lawrence Thomas (Detroit/Renaissance), is one of the country's premier talents. The 6-foot-4 and 235-pound Thomas has committed to Michigan State, picking the Spartans over offers from Florida, Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma, UCLA, Wisconsin and many others.

Wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett (Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw) ranks just behind Thomas, but in many years he would be the clear-cut No. 1 prospect. The 5-11, 160-pound Arnett has great speed to go along with excellent hands. He has scholarship offers from approximately two dozen schools including USC, Oklahoma, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Iowa and Tennessee.
