Roderick Byers to play for the Ducks
January, 26, 2011
There must be something in the water in Rock Hill, S.C., because the small town has produced some big-time defensive line prospects this year and we're not just talking about about Jadeveon Clowney and his teammate Gerald Dixon at South Point High School. Northwestern High School in the same city lays claim to its own three-star defensive end, Roderick Byers, and on Wednesday he decided to play his college ball out west. "It just felt like the best opportunity for me," Byers said of his Oregon commitment. "I want to get to another level and compete and that's a great place. They have great academic support, facilities, and it's a super town with great fans. The people there are just awesome." At first Byers was not sure just how genuine the interest was from the Ducks. He figured Oregon was there at Rock Hill not to see him, but the nation's top prospect in Clowney.
