Andrew Ness picks Northern Illinois

January, 27, 2011
Andrew Ness (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers College) is arguably one of the most underrated prospects in the Midwest. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound center is a two-time all-state selection that was overlooked by BCS level programs. Ness eventually gave Ball State his verbal commitment, but backed out of that commitment when the Cardinals fired Stan Parish. Andrew said last night that he'll play his college football for another MAC program.

"I'm going to sign with Northern Illinois next week," Ness said. "I had a previous relationship with coach [Dave] Doeren while he was at Wisconsin. Once coach Doeren was hired, he offered me a scholarship. Since there was a coaching change at Ball State, I wanted to check out all my options. I visited Northern Illinois and felt very comfortable with the situation at NIU. I was impressed with Coach Doeren and the new staff and I'm happy to say I'm a Huskie."
