Interest continues growing for Hankins

Junior linebacker Rob Hankins (Plano, Texas/Dallas Parish Episcopal) is nearing 20 offers after Texas A&M extended an offer Wednesday morning. The Aggies join the likes of Notre Dame, Miami, Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, California, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Texas Tech, SMU and Rice in offering the 6-foot-1, 214-pound inside linebacker with a very impressive bench press of 405-pounds.

Hankins made an unofficial visit to California last weekend to take a closer look at the program under the direction of Jeff Tedford. Hankins told that he walked away very impressed with the Bears.

"The coaches were the big thing to me," said Hankins. "They want to be mentors to me, not just coaches. And the football team's a real family in the locker room and that means a lot to me. I have that in high school and that's a big reason why I've had the success I've had so far. I know at the college level, it's a lot more business-like so finding that family atmosphere's really important to me. I fell in love with the place. I loved the city and I loved Berkeley. It's not a bad deal to have the ocean, the city and the mountains all right around where you live."

Hankins recorded 136 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, four fumble recoveries and one sack as a junior.
