Northern Illinois Offense vs. Louisiana Tech Defense
The Huskies implemented a spread attack this year and they will look to stretch Louisiana Tech's run defense horizontally with their multiple-receiver sets. However, RB Me'co Brown and dual-threat QB Chandler Harnish may find the sledding tough. After all, the Bulldogs are giving up an average of just three yards per rush and they've held opponents to fewer than 100 rushing yards per game. DT D' Anthony Smith, a 300-pounder, is an effective interior run stuffer who is very active and has recorded 64 tackles this year. If and when the Huskies try to block him one-on-one, he's capable of holding his ground and shedding the block in time to make the play. If and when Northern Illinois commits two blockers to him, the Huskies are going to have a difficult time getting a body on MLB Brannon Jackson. In addition, DSs Deon Young and Antonio Baker are willing run defenders who give Louisiana Tech a reliable last line of defense.
