BYU offense vs. Oklahoma defense
QB Max Hall threw for 35 touchdowns and averaged 304.4 yards passing yards per game in 2008, but as is often the case, these statistics are misleading. The truth is, Hall struggled in BYU's biggest games (TCU, Utah and Arizona) and there's little reason to expect a different outcome this time around. Oklahoma has a distinct advantage up front, where DT Gerald McCoy has elite quickness and power and DEs Auston English and Jeremy Beal are extremely disruptive off the edge. Meanwhile, projected starting LOG Jason Speredon suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during camp and will be replaced by redshirt freshman Marco Thorson. In addition, LOT Matt Reynolds is recovering from a fractured hand. Reynolds will likely play, but might be limited.
