We saw vintage Miami Hurricanes football in Blacksburg, Va., Saturday. The Hurricanes had heard all season that they had no chance to win at Lane Stadium at night. Even though I picked Virginia Tech to win, I knew Miami would give a great effort, which it did.
We thought that we'd know more about the Hokies and Marcus Vick after the game and we definitely found out that Miami is for real. The future is still bright for Vick, but Saturday night the Hokies were dominated on both sides of the ball. From the moment Larry Coker's team took the field, you could see a different look in their eyes. Quarterback Kyle Wright and the Miami offense grew up on Saturday and the sky's the limit for them in the future.
This was a great win for Coker, and offensive coordinator Dan Werner had a great game plan. Many people had been putting some undeserved heat on Coker and this win silenced those critics and showed that Miami is here to stay.
