COACH AND PROGRAM
It has been a struggle for Brent Guy at Utah State, but the third-year coach seems to have the backing of the administration.
"They like him. Coach Guy is a likeable person. The people that count and know understand what he's doing and realize it's going to take longer," new offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey said.
Guy hired Dickey to oversee the offense, which was dismal last season. And then the Aggies lost their top quarterback and No. 1 rusher. Still Dickey's arrival has given Utah State hope. Dickey had a mostly successful nine-year run as the head coach at North Texas, but was fired after last season.
"It's huge. I can't say it any other way. He's a great football coach, a great teacher," defensive coordinator Mark Johnson said. "I don't want to sound like I'm buttering him up or anything, but the guy knows football. He believes in a scheme and stays with it."
