Few defensive backs have so quickly established themselves as one of the nation's best as safety Eric Berry has since touching down in Knoxville two seasons ago. An all-world prospect, Berry lived up to expectations almost immediately, recording 86 tackles, intercepting five passes, breaking up four passes, forcing a fumble and recovering two as a true freshman in 2007. After one-upping himself last season (seven more interceptions, six passes broken up and an astounding 8½ tackles for loss from the safety position), he has been the subject of an underground Heisman campaign, and many experts, including ESPN's Mel Kiper, project Berry as the top defensive back taken in the 2010 NFL draft.
