One-upping Michigan is always the goal for Michigan State, so that's another reason a victory at Notre Dame would be sweet for the Spartans. They've won four in a row in South Bend, where the 10th-ranked Fighting Irish await on Saturday. A fifth consecutive win under the Golden Dome would tie Purdue (1954-62) for the longest streak by a Notre Dame opponent.
• MSU quarterback Drew Stanton looks every bit the double threat he was after taking over the job last year in midseason. He's averaging 4.2 yards per carry and completing 78 percent of his passes for an offense that's No. 2 nationally at 592 yards per game.
• The Spartans could be thin in the secondary if cornerback Irving Campbell (knee) and Ross Weaver (back) can't go. Campbell is doubtful, Weaver questionable.
