Three matchups to watch in each of the games on the Top 25 schedule.
Thursday, Oct. 6
NC State at No. 24 Georgia Tech
1. NC State TE T.J. Williams vs. Georgia Tech SS Chris Reis
Reis moved from linebacker to safety last year and he is a physical run stuffer that wraps up in the open field, but his lack of ideal cover skills will cost him working against Williams. Williams is a sharp route-runner that has the quickness to separate from Reis and rarely drops passes that he should catch. He also has the wide frame to shield Reis from the ball making him an excellent red zone target this week.
2. Georgia Tech RB P.J. Daniels vs. NC State WLB Stephen Tulloch
Daniels reads his blocks well and he runs with good power so he should be effective enough to put QB Reggie Ball in manageable third-down situations and set up the play action package. However, he won't have a career day working against Tulloch. Tulloch has the range to make it difficult for Daniels to turn the corner and he is a reliable open field tackler. He also has the cover skills to limit Daniels' production as a receiver out of the backfield.
