Hampton's deal won't affect Wilfork
February, 25, 2010
Casey Hampton's new three-year, $21.3 million deal should have no impact on the Vince Wilfork negotiations in New England. If Wilfork does get a long-term deal, he should make more than $8 million a year. Hampton has to be elated to get more than $7 million a year rather than the franchise tag, which would have been $7.003 million for one year. Now Hampton knows he has job security. LeFevour should throw: The main problem with the top quarterbacks not working out at the combine is that any team interested in drafting a quarterback is going to have to send every major decision-maker to all of the private workouts. That sometimes is tough.
