Breaking down the third round

NEW YORK -- Our scouts break down the third round of the 2006 NFL draft.

Analysis: First round | Second round | Third round | Fourth round | Fifth round | Sixth round | Seventh round

Inside the third round

• Houston clearly needs to improve its offensive line, and it started the third round by addressing that need. Pittsburgh OG Charles Spencer (pick No. 65) is raw, but he has excellent upside, and the Texans can start grooming him to replace one of their aging starters. Miami LOT Eric Winston (pick No. 66) could give QB David Carr the blind-side pass blocker he has desperately needed since entering the league. Though critics consider him soft, and he hasn't been as mobile since sustaining a knee injury that forced him to miss the 2004 season, he gets set quickly and still has above-average agility.
