Russell must shed some weight

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 2007 NFL scouting combine officially kicked off Wednesday with offensive linemen, tight ends, kickers, punters and specialists arriving in town. The final group (defensive backs) shows up on Saturday. Kickers and punters worked out inside the RCA Dome on Friday. Workouts for position players finally begin on Saturday, with offensive linemen and tight ends, and finish up next Tuesday with cornerbacks and safeties.

The most exciting draft news to report on Friday was Cleveland winning a coin flip against Tampa Bay to earn the third overall pick in this year's draft.

The Browns are expected to take Oklahoma RB Adrian Peterson, which would not affect the Bucs' draft strategy, as Tampa used the fifth overall pick on Cadillac Williams two years ago. However, offensive tackle is considered a high priority for both teams, so the coin flip could become a major factor if Wisconsin OT Joe Thomas is available for Cleveland with the third pick.
