Examining the Falcons' draft profile

Here is a look at the factors that will come into play in the Atlanta Falcons draft room:

Decision Makers
General manager Thomas Dimitroff was almost perfect in his rookie year in Atlanta and he is building an excellent front office -- basically in the image of his former team, the Patriots. Much like the Patriots former duo of Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli, this is a two-man front office power structure with Dimitroff and head coach Mike Smith. They have a strong working relationship with mutual trust and respect and they are on the same page in terms of what type of players they want and what their roles are. Scouts are information gatherers, but not decision makers and former front office boss Rich McKay, is not really involved day to day and a lot of his responsibilities are league-wide issues. This has a chance to develop into a very fluid and successful front office with an excellent owner, Arthur Blanks, but all final decisions here will come from Dimitroff and Smith.
