Draft Lab: Brandon Lang's stock

One trap scouts easily fall into is "the cousin effect." The cousin effect happens when a college program has a string of successful players hit the NFL from a certain position and that success affects the way other prospects from that position and school are seen.

This may be happening with Troy defensive end Brandon Lang. The Trojans have placed DeMarcus Ware and Osi Umenyiora into the NFL over the past few years -- so Lang is often looked at as being the next in line in that string.

Some of that reputation has been earned: Lang did post 10.5 sacks in 2008.

However, a game tape analysis of his season-opening game against Florida shows where he's off target.

To continue with KC's analysis of Lang -- what he has, what he lacks and how close he can get to DeMarcus Ware and Osi Umenyiora at the pro level -- you must be an ESPN Insider.Insider
