In Week 16's "Monday Night Football" (ESPN, 8 p.m. ET) matchup, expect to see a heavy dose of LaDainian Tomlinson for two reasons.
First, he's the best running back in football and the Chargers thrive when he gets it going. They are simply a much better team when he is able to start opening things up for quarterback Philip Rivers. When he's getting downfield, opposing defenses have to worry about him and put eight or nine men in the box, which frees up tight end Antonio Gates as well as Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson.
Second, the Broncos looked terrible against the run last week against the Houston Texans. They were manhandled the entire game, allowing 158 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. The Broncos' front seven is an undersized unit, and that lack of size hurt them a great deal last week and will continue to hurt them this week. The Chargers have found the power running game they'd been lacking earlier in the season and they will feast on these small defenders and rack up yardage.
