The Jacksonville Jaguars' defense has a lot of the hallmarks of an exceptional unit. It ranks fifth in rushing yards per game allowed, sixth in points per game allowed and 10th in opponents' passer rating. The Jags' defense has held opponents to 17 or fewer points in nine games and single-digit points in three games.
As exemplary as all of those numbers are, after looking deeper into its performance, I am fairly convinced the Jaguars' defense is playing at an average level at best. There are three main reasons I say this:
