Bears could add a former Lion to help RB situation

The Bears cut ties with Cedric Benson after several indiscretions off the field, including two alcohol-related arrests in the past month, and three seasons of suspect play on it. This move makes perfect sense, but what happens to the offense now?

Chicago could look at established free agents such as Travis Henry or Shaun Alexander, but those two might not be the best fit. Henry has off-the-field issues and problems staying healthy, and Alexander lacks the toughness this franchise needs and demands from its running backs. Plus, neither Henry nor Alexander is going to help out on special teams or contribute on passing downs. Adding either player would be a mistake.
