Tale of the Tape: Coaches

Scouts Inc.'s Jeremy Green and Gary Horton have reviewed all the film and broken down the coaching staff in Super Bowl XLIV. We have compared them in seven categories and given an edge for each. Some of the results may surprise you.

Head coach

Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell has made a seamless transition from the Tony Dungy regime, and this organization does not miss a beat under his understated leadership. As much as he admires and respects Dungy, Caldwell is his own guy and has made some subtle coaching and philosophical changes. Because he is the former QB coach for the Colts, he not only knows this offense, but also has the respect of Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis locker room. He doesn't have a lot of head-coaching experience, but he is a student of the game and has come up through the ranks. Caldwell is strong and confident, but also knows this is already a good team and he lets his coaches coach and his players play.
