Oh, what a difference a week makes. The first round of games of the NFL season went about as badly as it could have for the defending Super Bowl champion. The New York Giants lost their home opener to the division-rival Dallas Cowboys 24-17 on national television, while their NFC East mates in Washington and Philadelphia collected wins over New Orleans and Cleveland, respectively. When the smoke cleared Monday morning, the Giants were alone in last place. And though the season still has months to play out, the fact remains that the Giants' path back to the Super Bowl looks a lot more treacherous than it did just seven days prior.
