How Eli and RG III bounce back

Even the best quarterbacks will struggle at times in the National Football League. On Sunday, we saw three of them battle through games they'd probably like to forget.

Of course, with the spotlights and tape recorders always on because of the position they play, it can be hard to forget and move on. The key is to find a way. Put it out of mind. And to do that, they first have to process what went wrong.

When I had a bad game, I couldn't wait to get back to the practice field and into the film room. Sure, I knew I'd get chewed out by the coach, but I knew that I was going to be able to work out the kinks and solve the problem, and it made me anxious. If you can digest your mistakes, you can fix them.

In that spirit, let's take a look at the problems faced by Eli Manning, Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick last week to see if we can diagnose what went wrong for three exceptionally talented signal-callers.

You don't have to look far back into NFL history to see examples of talented quarterbacks suffering Eli's current plight. The Giants can't run the ball. Period. Their front five can't knock anyone off the line of scrimmage. And their best running back, David Wilson, put the ball on the ground twice in Week 1. When the running game falters, the quarterback feels all the pressure to carry the offense. More often than not, that leads to risk-taking and bad decisions.
