Falcons Kenjon Barner on his 78-yard punt return for a touchdown vs. Panthers: “I had a motorcade as I like to say. Once I caught the ball and came through the middl, I just saw a motorcade ahead of us, and they guided me on down. Our guys did a great job of blocking. They always do. They strain for me, and my job is to strain for them.''

Arthur Blank to ESPN on his team after beating Carolina: “We've had two great games in a row. Today, it was great to see all three phases step it up. Our defense has been really spectacular the last two weeks. Eleven sacks in the last two games, and four picks today, so that's about as well as we can play on defense. I think the whole team has done a great job, players and coaches. We've got to keep it up.'' Falcons now 3-7 and 2-0 in NFC South going into next Sunday's game vs. Tampa Bay (3-7).

Falcons defense overwhelms Allen, Panthers 29-3

Atlanta intercepted Kyle Allen four times and sacked him five times, Kenjon Barner returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown and the Falcons defeated the Carolina Panthers 29-3 Sunday for their second straight lopsided win against an NFC South foe.

From ESPN Stats and Info: Matt Ryan moves past Warren Moon (49,325) and into 10th place for most career passing yards. It is unlikely he passes John Elway in this game, who is next in ninth place at 51,475 passing yards. Ryan entered Sunday with 49,072 yards.

Falcons obviously built some momentum off last week's win over the Saints in leading the Panthers 20-0 at halftime. Offensively, Falcons are using a variety of different looks and a lot of empty sets to spread the Panthers out and keep them guessing. Defensively, the Falcons are creating turnovers with interceptions by Desmond Trufant, Ricardo Allen, and De'Vondre Campbell while recording three sacks as well. It looks like a team on a mission after 1-7 start. Falcons could start 2-0 in NFC South

Takk McKinley listed as questionable with a left shoulder injury for Falcons. He has has a solid start to the game rushing the quarterback, and the Falcons are rushing well in unison. If he can't go, Falcons will need more from Vic Beasley and Adrian Clayborn off the edges, and Beasley already has a sack along with McKinley. McKinley has had operations on both shoulders in the past.

Colin Kaepernick's statement after workout: "I've been ready for 3 years, I've been denied for 3 years. We all know why I came out here showed it today in front of everybody. We have nothing to hide. So we're waiting for the 32 owners, 32 teams, Roger Goodell, all of them stop running. Stop running from the truth. Stop running from the people. We're out here, we're ready to play."

Falcons assistant head coach Raheem Morris on assisting with defensive play-calling: “Jeff [Ulbrich] did first, second down. And then I'm able to chime in on third down and do third down, two-minute. And then once you get in the red zone, kind of follow the same format. ... It just made us efficient and helped us out a lot better. But a lot was made of that. When you plan it, you all plan it together. So we plan all the same things. It's just the person reading it off the sheet.''

Going back over Falcons injury situation, Dan Quinn called TE Austin Hooper (MCL) and RB Devonta Freeman (foot) longshots for this week but wouldn't put a sure timetable on either player. Quinn denied report that Hooper will be out a month, and a source indicated to ESPN Hooper's status is consider more “week to week” than anything, although he won't play at Carolina on Sunday. Quinn said QB Matt Ryan would just do walkthrough stuff Wednesday after returning to action off a sprained ankle.
