Bills QB Allen week-to-week after elbow injury

With Josh Allen in doubt for Sunday after injuring his elbow, Bills coach Sean McDermott said the team will "work through" whether Nathan Peterman or Derek Anderson gets to replace the rookie.

Jarvis Landry and Joel Bitonio promise the loss to the Chargers was just a bad day, not an example of the team getting ahead of itself after getting to .500. "We don't want to lay another egg like that," Bitonio said.

Wide receiver Rod Streater fractured a bone in his neck in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. He will miss the season, but the team said he does not need surgery and doctors expect a full recovery. Rookie receiver Derrick Willies had surgery today to repair his broken collarbone; Willies is on injured reserve and will be a candidate to return this season.

The fact that the Browns signed Breshad Perriman shows the wide receiver talent available on the free agent market. Damion Ratley played well Sunday after the missed TD pass, and Rashard Higgins will be back at some point. If the Browns want to upgrade a position that needs upgrading, it's worth checking to see if Oakland might trade Amari Cooper, and for what. Cooper's health status is in question, though; he took a big hit Sunday and left the game with a concussion.

Baker Mayfield said he turned his right ankle running out of bounds in the first quarter, but said he it did not affect him. Asked if the issue may linger, he simply said "no."

The false start by Russell Okung that wasn't called -- the Chargers scored their third touchdown despite an obvious false start -- happened on the Chargers side of the field. But Hue Jackson said the official on his side of the field told him the refs simply "missed it." Defensive tackle Larry Obunjobi offered this thought: "It was one of those plays where you have to keep playing, even though sometimes the referees miss things. You still have to finish the play."

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers was asked what advice he'd give Baker Mayfield. Rivers' response:

Jackson on loss: 'I take total responsibility' (0:35)
Mayfield on struggles: 'I'm gonna go to work and get it fixed' (0:44)

Baker Mayfield said he will be hard on himself after losing to the Chargers: "It doesn't matter what they do. I gotta do my job."

Gordon, Rivers lead Chargers to 38-14 blowout of Browns

Philip Rivers threw two touchdown passes to Tyrell Williams -- and the veteran quarterback threw a block -- and Melvin Gordon had three TD runs as the Los Angeles Chargers banged around Cleveland rookie Baker Mayfield and the Browns, 38-14 on Sunday.

The Browns put a clunker on the field in losing 38-14 to the Chargers. Los Angeles rushed for 246 yards, Baker Mayfield threw two interceptions and got little help form his receivers, who could not catch two touchdown passes. This one-sided score didn't truly accurately reflect the way the Chargers dominated and controlled the game.

With half the fourth quarter remaining, the Chargers have rushed for 243 yards, 8.1 yards per carry.

Middle linebacker Joe Schobert has left the game with a hamstring injury and will not return.

Mayfield slips on sideline, comes up limping (0:20)

A Baker Mayfield interception sets the Chargers up for a touchdown and a 28-6 lead. I'm pretty sure this is not a Browns team built to come back from that second-half deficit.
