Riddick predicts 11-win season for Browns (2:23)

John Pluym ESPN

The Cleveland Browns open as five-point favorites over Tennessee in Week 1. There's a long way before that game happens, but.... it would be only the second time in 25 years that Cleveland is favored by more than a field goal in Week 1. The last time was 2011, when it was favored by 6.5 over the Bengals. Cleveland lost 27-17.

The Browns will open preseason play at home against Washington the week of Aug. 8-12. The specific date will be determined, but teams love to open on Thursday because it allows them to open training camp a couple days earlier than if the game were on the weekend. Other preseason opponents: at Indianapolis Aug 15-19 (the two teams will hold joint practices in Indianapolis prior to this game), at Tampa Bay Aug. 22-26, and home vs Detroit, likely Thursday, Aug. 29.

The Browns will add two interesting players today: Safety Morgan Burnett, who spent last season with the Steelers but asked for his release, and quarterback Garrett Gilbert, a standout of the now defunct AAF, per league source.

Strengthen The Backfield?

Mel, Todd and Chris agree that the offense is in good shape. Then question if it would be wise to strengthen the team's defensive backfield.
