Russell Shepard signed a 1-year deal with the Giants. He joins a crowded group that includes Cody Latimer and Roger Lewis for playing time when they go three wide receivers. Shepard had 17 catches for 202 yards and a touchdown in his only season after being signed to a three-year, $10 million deal by Dave Gettleman in Carolina. Shepard spent the first four years of his career in Tampa. He also happens to be friend with Odell Beckham Jr. from their time together at LSU. I remember the two embracing and having a long talk before the Bucs played the Giants few years back.

Giants, Manning memorabilia fraud case settled

A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit that claimed Giants quarterback Eli Manning provided bogus "game-worn'' equipment that was sold to unsuspecting collectors.

The memorabilia case against Eli Manning and the Giants that has stretched years has been settled on the day the civil suit was supposed to begin. This is a statement from Karen Kessler, a spokesperson for the New York Giants: "Eric Inselberg, Michael Jakab and Sean Godown have resolved all claims in their pending litigation against the New York Giants, Eli Manning, John Mara, William Heller, Joseph Skiba, Edward Skiba and Steiner Sports, in accordance with a confidential settlement agreement reached today. The compromise agreement, entered into by all parties, should not be viewed as supporting any allegations, claims or defenses. All parties are grateful to have the matter, which began in 2014, concluded and are now focused on football, the fans and the future."

The Eli Manning memorabilia case began Monday at the Bergen County Justice Center. Jury selection was delayed until Monday because one of the lawyers involved is dealing with a death in the family. Brian Brook, the attorney for the plaintiff, said he wasn't sure if Eli Manning would be called to the stand in the case, which is expected to take four weeks. He did expect Giants owner John Mara to at least appear via a video deposition.
