The Raiders have signed Darren Waller to a multiyear contract extension that will keep the up-and-coming tight end from becoming a restricted free agent next offseason.

To quote Jon Gruden, WR Tyrell Williams "has a plantar fascia. We believe it's plantar fasciitis, or fascia. Whatever that is, he has. And it's not getting much better." Williams has not practiced since before the Raiders' win at Indianapolis on Sept. 29.

The Raiders have opened a 21-day practice window for rookie cornerback Isaiah Johnson to come off Injured Reserve as the fourth-round draft pick began practicing on Monday. At the end of the window, the Raiders have to either activate Johnson to the 53-man roster or shut him down for the season. Also, right guard Gabe Jackson, who injured a knee in a joint training camp practice with the Rams but has been on the active roster all along, was practicing Monday while wearing braces on both knees.

Gruden on Jay's firing: 'Welcome to the club, bro'

Raiders coach Jon Gruden said he was "obviously very disappointed" that his brother Jay was fired as coach of the Redskins. "My dad's been fired. I've been fired," Gruden said. "... Welcome to the club, bro."

Paul Gutierrez ESPN Staff Writer

Gruden, on if Jones trade is a sign that Tyrell Williams and J.J. Nelson might be out longer: "We don't know. It's a tough spot the last couple of weeks. Dwayne Harris, put him in that mix too. Those are three veteran receivers that we had expected to play and are not sure of their status. But we got to get ready to play Green Bay (after the bye) and they play a lot of bump and run and man-to-man. We'll start teaching Zay the plays and all that good stuff here after we're done with this.”

Paul Gutierrez ESPN Staff Writer

Jon Gruden, on Zay Jones: “I like him. He was a very productive guy in college. Played in the slot, played split end and flanker. Tough guy, smart. I just think he has a lot of natural skills that are really well worth looking into. With all our injuries, I really credit [General Manager] Mike Mayock and his staff for the two trades that we made. Trevor Davis has really played big dividends for us. We expect more of the same from Zay.”

Raiders make it official...formally announce acquisition of WR Zay Jones in a trade with Buffalo for a draft pick in 2021, which will reportedly be a fifth-rounder. The Raiders waived WR Marcell Ateman, who was just promoted from the practice squad this weekend, in the corresponding roster move.
