If Leafs fans think the dismissal of John Ferguson Jr. signals a major turnaround in the franchise's fortunes on the ice, they're kidding themselves. Yeah, JFJ didn't do much to distinguish himself during his four-year-plus tenure. The Leafs are further away from Stanley Cup contention today then they were when Ferguson was named the club's new manager on Aug. 29, 2003. That's why I found it a little odd that JFJ repeatedly stated he was proud of his record during his meeting with the press on Tuesday afternoon. Under Ferguson, the Leafs have gone backwards. Can you really be proud of that?
