Murray's firing no surprise

March, 22, 2006
Andy Murray is a very good coach. He's a tireless worker who does everything possible to have his team ready to play. This year, the Kings were a very respectable 37-28-5 under his direction.

All that said, I can't say I was too surprised to hear he was fired Tuesday night.

The Kings, again beset by key injuries, are stumbling down the stretch. They're just 2-5 in their last seven games. And they're in grave danger of missing the playoffs for the third straight year. On Monday night, they were embarrassed by the Avs, 5-0, at the Staples Center. The team's effort was so bad, it seemed as if the players had quit on Murray.
