Summer Report: Phoenix Coyotes

September, 3, 2006
If one thing has been a constant for the Coyotes, it has been change. During the past couple of seasons, they've been quick to make roster moves as they seek to find the right formula.

This summer, the Coyotes continued that trend, adding some high-profile names to their lineup.

The most significant addition was stud defenseman Ed Jovanovski, who signed a five-year contract worth $32.5 million to skate in Phoenix. GM Mike Barnett and senior adviser Cliff Fletcher made a special trip to Toronto on the opening day of free agency to meet with Jovanovski's agent, Pat Morris. The two men wanted to make sure their offer would be considered. The Coyotes' eagerness impressed Jovanovski, who signed with the team on the very same day.
