In 2009-10 debut, Price is right

October, 2, 2009

What did we learn on opening night? Well, the biggest lesson was one of the oldest: You need good goaltending.

Montreal's Carey Price, Colorado's Craig Anderson and Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff were terrific in their 2009-10 debuts, helping their respective teams get off on the right foot.

In Toronto, the 22-year-old Price kept his club in the game during the first two periods when it was being outshot 30-13 by the Leafs. While he didn't make any particular highlight-reel stops, Price was consistently strong throughout the night, finishing with 43 saves, as the Canadiens earned a 4-3 overtime win.
