Match Commentary

82'Analysis from South Africa correspondent John Goliath:

"England absorbed the pressure in the first half, before putting the Springboks under pressure with ball in the hand in the second stanza. While the home team didn?t score a try, they managed to find some space in the wide channels. They won the game after a scrum penalty was converted into three points, following such an attacking move into South Africa's 22. The Boks, though, must be kicking themselves in the change room. They dominated England for most of the match, but just couldn?t get over the tryline. A malfunctioning lineout cost them dearly."
82'England head coach Eddie Jones speaking post-match: "We just stuck at it, did the simple things well, we knew we had to turn them around and make them back-pedal and we did that. When you're in an arm-wrestle, that's what it's like."

41'And analysis also from South Africa correspondent John Goliath:

"The Springboks will be disappointed with the 8-6 scoreline at the break after dominating possession and spending most of the first half in England's half.

"The Boks dominated the home team at scrum time and made metres with their maul, but too many unforced errors on attack deep in England?s half have cost them dearly. The Boks squandered three try-scoring opportunities, which included two botched lineouts 5m from the England tryline.

"South Africa scored one try with a great build up and a good finish from S'bu Nkosi, but will need to be a lot more clinical in the second half if they want to start their November tour with a win."
41'Half-time analysis from Tom Hamilton, at Twickenham:

"Its a minor miracle South Africa are only two points up on England. They have dominated possession and territory and took their try well. But had they not squandered attacking position through poor handling and a dodgy lineout, they?d likely be further ahead. England are handing the ball back to South Africa and trying to contest the high ball, but to little avail."

1'The Springboks won the three-Test series between the teams in June, in South Africa, and then showed improved form in the second half of the Rugby Championship, defeating New Zealand and Africa before letting the All Blacks off the hook in Pretoria having had them on toast.

Rassie Erasmus has named his strongest available squad while Eddie Jones has seen one player after another ruled out by injury -- Manu Tuilagi the latest with a groin strain on the eve of the Test.

Who do you think will win?

Our correspondents across the rugby world have previewed all the big Test action for the weekend.

They've also previewed the entire November Test series to explained what's happened and changed since the hemispheres last collided in the June Test window.
