Eduardo Herrera leads new-look Mexico squad past Paraguay

In a lineup featuring 10 new players from the one that beat Ecuador 1-0 on Saturday, Mexico once again came out on top riding an early Eduardo Herrera goal to a 1-0 win vs. Paraguay.

Herrera, who was making his debut for El Tri, stretched out to get on the back of a Juan Carlos Medina cross and put it past Paraguay keeper Justo Villar. The goal came on Herrera's first touch of the game.

Possession was fairly balanced throughout a physical first half that saw five yellow cards shown by referee Walter Lopez. Mexico had the better chances to score, giving their presumptive third-choice keeper Meliton Hernandez a quiet 45 minutes in net.

In the 59th minute, Javier "Chicharito" Hernanez came on for Herrera to a rousing ovation from the partisan Mexico crowd on hand at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium.

Both sides had plenty of chances late, but neither could break through and Miguel Herrera's squad leaves the United States with two victories in two tries ahead of a busy summer in which El Tri will compete in both the Gold Cup and Copa America.
